Bulk Urea Fertilizer

Bulk Urea Fertilizer, also known as carbamide, is a high-nitrogen fertilizer containing approximately 46% nitrogen by weight. With the chemical formula CO(NH₂)₂, urea is produced industrially from ammonia and carbon dioxide and is available mainly in granular and prilled forms. It is widely used in agriculture and is also supplied in technical grades for industrial applications.

46-0-0 urea fertilizer contains approximately 46% nitrogen by weight and is classified as a nitrogen fertilizer. The 0-0 values indicate that no phosphorus or potassium is included in the fertilizer grade designation. Urea is one of the most concentrated solid nitrogen fertilizers and is commonly supplied as granular or prilled material.

After application to soil, urea is hydrolyzed by the enzyme urease, producing ammonium. The ammonium can then be taken up by plants or converted to nitrate through nitrification. Surface-applied urea can also be subject to ammonia volatilization, particularly under conditions that favor nitrogen loss.

This material brings a rich source of nitrogens for crops. Urea can be applied to soil as a solid fertilizer, incorporated into the soil, dissolved for certain fertilizer applications, or used in appropriately formulated foliar applications. Application method and timing should be selected according to the crop, soil conditions, climate, and required nitrogen rate.
